5 Ways to Improve in English, Maths & Science

Every student wants to feel more confident when facing a test or exam. Whether you’re studying for GCSEs, A-Levels, or school assessments, developing the right habits can make a huge difference.

Here are five easy but effective study tips that I share with my tutoring students in Arjan, Dubai.

1. Set Clear, Achievable Goals

Don’t try to learn everything at once. Break your revision into small, focused goals such as “learn 10 new English words today” or “review one science topic this evening.”
Small, steady progress adds up and helps you stay motivated.

2. Learn Actively, Not Passively

Simply reading notes isn’t enough. In maths, practise solving problems step-by-step. In science, draw diagrams. In English, write short paragraphs using new grammar or vocabulary.
When you engage with the material, you remember it for longer.

3. Mix Up Your Subjects

Changing between subjects helps your brain stay alert. Try 20 minutes of maths, followed by 20 minutes of English, then 20 minutes of science. This method, known as interleaving, keeps study time productive.

4. Teach Someone Else

One of the best ways to check understanding is to teach it. Try explaining a maths problem to a friend or summarising a science topic out loud. If you can teach it clearly, you’ve learned it well.

5. Ask for Help Early

Don’t wait until exam season to ask for help. Tutors can explain difficult concepts and help fill learning gaps before they become bigger issues.

At Tutor Me in Arjan, Dubai, we help students master English, Maths, and Science with personalised support from qualified teachers.
